This is an oft-quoted statement for failing to follow a diet that couldn’t be more wrong. For the most part we are too lazy to eat well. Yes, I’m calling you lazy, and I’m guilty of it too.

Ten years ago my metabolism was far more forgiving of my lax eating habits. I was too busy to eat well. In the mornings, I’d guzzle a couple cups of coffee before work. At the office I’d sneak another coffee, notice I’m getting hungry, have no food, and hit the snack machine for a deliciously sticky cinnamon roll. Then it’d be work, work, work, feel my belly begin to rumble around 11:30, only to realize I have no time for lunch with two meetings scheduled for the afternoon. What to do? Run across the street to the Burger King drive thru. I’ll need a full meal, I won’t be eating until late tonight. Give me the medium burger with a Diet Coke.
Burger and Fries

This was a time when I would have patted myself on the back for not super-sizing my meal. Now I shudder to think that burger and fries packed a whopping 1,250-calorie punch. Add in the morning snack and I’m over 1500 calories, nearly my daily limit. Good thing I got the Diet Coke, that saved 280 calories. By the time I’ve gotten home, eaten dinner and relaxed with a chilled glass of wine, I had consumed about 3000 calories! But I was ten years younger and too busy to care.

Fast forward ten years, all that too busy to eat well talk, guess what it gained me? Fifteen pounds. Which, as we all know, doesn’t come off as easily as it goes on.

Following the 60 Minute Diet I’ve learned how to actually save time AND lose weight by eating better. You pack all of your food in the morning before you leave the house. This means you’ve made all of your food choices in the morning when you’re not too hungry, and able to make better selections. How does this save you time? You don’t have to drive across the street for unhealthy fast food, just reach into your Cool Pack and keep on going. Hey, maybe you’ll even get to leave earlier today!
