Weight loss is all about numbers. You pick the number you want to weigh. Many times you set a number of months to obtain your goal. You write down your starting measurements, original weight and gauge your progress at regular intervals. Unfortunately, if you are numerically challenged like myself, it can be overwhelming to track so much information.
Many times we forget about the simple math that primarily influences our weight – number of calories consumed daily. Ignore all the other numbers, the rules, the scale, the inches, but never ignore your daily calories. Calories are the primary factor in managing your weight. By controlling your daily caloric intake you will lose weight, and then be able to maintain that number.
Our bodies are designed to run efficiently on a reasonable daily intake of food. Of course the ideal caloric count varies by your height, age and gender. When we eat too many calories in a day our bodies are forced to convert the excess into fat. Too many days in a row of overeating and even I can do the math!
Control your weight by controlling your daily calorie intake. If you’re like most people trying to lose weight, you will be able to properly nourish your body while still losing weight by keeping your daily calories around 1,500. This level allows for weight loss without going into starvation mode.
Take back control of your body, 1,500 calories at a time!
Update: Use the Sixty Minute Diet calculator to calculate your daily calorie intake.
